What is the Provincial Nominee Program?
Most provinces in Canada have
an agreement with the Government of Canada that allows them to play a more
direct role in selecting immigrants who wish to settle in that province.
Provinces “select” or “nominate” individuals based on the specific needs of
that particular province.

How do I apply as a Provincial
Nominee?
Before making an application
for permanent residence in the Provincial Nominee category you will need to
apply to a given province for a nomination certificate. Visa offices cannot
process Provincial Nominee applications without confirmation that you have
been accepted by a province. Please see the following link for information
and contact details for the individual Provincial Programmes.

Do I have to meet the same
pass mark of 67 points as Skilled Workers?
No. Once you have been
nominated by the a province you are considered to meet to Economic
requirements for immigration. The Immigration section in London will still
need to evaluate your criminal and medical admissibility to Canada.

I already have a Skilled
Worker application in process but have now received a Provincial Nominee
certificate. Can I switch applications?
Please note that you can
indeed apply for the PNP if you already have a Skilled Worker application in
process. However, as this is a separate category of immigration, new
immigration application forms will be required. In addition, as this
category is processed on a priority basis you will also have to submit all
supporting documents with the PNP application (unlike the current simplified
application process for skilled workers). Once you have received
confirmation that you have been accepted as a Provincial Nominee you can
submit your new application and request that your Skilled Worker application
be withdrawn. We will then be able to transfer the application fees from one
application to the other. For further information on the Provincial Nominee
Programme please see the following site:

Do I need to submit a
Simplified Application or a Complete Application?
Please note that as Provincial
Nomination applications are processed on a priority basis you will need to
submit all your supporting documents (birth and marriage certificates,
education and employment documents, police certificates, etc...) when you
first submit your application.

Which forms do I use?
Provincial Nominees need to submit the Application for Permanent Residence
form (IMM 008) plus a Schedule 1 Background/Declaration (IMM 008 Schedule 1)
and an IMM 008 Schedule 4, as well as the Additional Family Information form
(IMM 5406) and, if applicable, the Use of a Representative form (IMM 5476).
Provincial Nominees must not
use the Simplified Application Process for Skilled Workers. If any form is
incorrect or not submitted, the visa office will request it from the
applicant before continuing to process the application.
Please refer to our
Forms page for all documents
needed.
