1. Application
form - Each applicant must submit a fully completed and signed application FORM (IMM1295B) which should include a day time
telephone number.
2. Processing
Fee -
Basic fee $150 per application
for work permit. See the FEES page for full information on the processing fees
which apply to you.
When posting your application, DO NOT SEND CASH. IT WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED. The fee must be paid by bank draft in Canadian Dollars and can be purchased
at most major banks. This draft should be made payable to:

Please write your name and address and telephone number on the reverse of
your bank draft. You can also pay by postal
order in British pounds.
We can only accept a bankers
draft in Canadian Dollars or postal orders in UK pounds sterling for
applications made in person at our office for
Work Permits.
No cash will be accepted.
This fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of your application.
3. Education:
successful completion of a course of study which is equivalent to completion of Canadian
secondary school; Citizens of the United Kingdom require 3 A levels or NVQ
level 3 and above (the equivalent of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C may be considered).
4. Training:
EITHER: successful completion of six
months full-time training in a classroom setting, in an occupation or field related to the
employment for which the work permit is sought,
OR: completion of at least one year
of full-time paid employment including at least six months of continuous employment with
one employer, in a field or occupation related to the job offer in Canada; this full-time
paid employment must be within the three years immediately prior to the day on which an
application for a work permit is submitted to a visa office. Verification in the form of a
P45 or P60 for residents of the United Kingdom, or equivalent government tax documentation
for other countries, is required as proof of employment.
5. Language:
Ability to speak, read and understand English or French at a level sufficient to
communicate effectively in an unsupervised setting.
6.
Contract
signed between you and your employer in Canada.
7. Two
passport sized photographs of yourself.

8. Documentation:
To process an application we require clear evidence that you meet the training and/or
experience requirements outlined above, e.g. a) At least one letter of reference from
previous employer(s). The letters must be dated, state the length of time you were
employed and specify your responsibilities. b) Evidence of child care-related courses can
be in the form of a certificate which clearly states that you have completed a childcare
course, or a transcript describing in full the course content. You should also enclose
evidence of any other care giving related course(s) (such as first aid), which you have
taken or are taking.
9. Police
Certificate - for any country you have resided in for over 6 months, since 18
years of age.
10. Questionnaire
- complete the questionnaire. This can be found on the FORMS page for applying as a Live-in Caregiver.
