TEMPORARY WORKER APPLICATIONS

OCCUPATIONS IN CONSTRUCTION

The following information applies to those in the construction industry seeking to enter Canada.

If you are a citizen of a country which requires a temporary resident visa (see paragraph 2 below) then you should include your passport when submitting your documentation. If you do not require a visa, a photocopy will suffice.

All applicants must submit the following documents to the High Commission:

1.  Application form - Each applicant must submit a fully completed and signed application FORM (IMM1295B) which should include a day time telephone number. Your Spouse may be eligible for an open work permit. A separate application will then be required. Please refer to the Worker Section home page.

2.  Processing Fee - Basic fee $150 per application for work permit. See the FEES page for full information on the processing fees which apply to you.

When posting your application, DO NOT SEND CASH. IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The fee must be paid by bank draft in Canadian Dollars and can be purchased at most major banks. This draft should be made payable to:

RECEIVER GENERAL FOR CANADA

Please write your name and address and telephone number on the reverse of your bank draft.

We can only accept a bankers draft in Canadian Dollars or postal orders in UK pounds sterling for applications made in person at our office for Work Permits.  No cash will be accepted.

This fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of your application.

3.  Photographs - Two passport sized photographs of yourself. Please write your name on the back.

5.  Detailed CV.

6.  Police Certificate - Original / copy United Kingdom Police Certificate, or Disclosure obtainable under the U.K. Data Protection Act (contact your local police station on how to apply).

Please note that an application cannot be finalized until the medical results have been received and assessed by our designated medical practitioner. Unfortunately, because of the volume of our workload we cannot acknowledge receipt of applications or answer routine case status requests within the processing times indicated above.
