TEMPORARY WORKER APPLICATION
TEACHERS
Teachers seeking to arrange an exchange placement
should first contact The League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers.

THE APPLICATION
If you are a
national of a country whose citizens require a temporary resident visa (click
on this link to view the list) then you should include your passport when submitting your documentation.
If you do not require a visa, a photocopy will suffice.
In order for us to process your work permit
application you will be required to submit the following documents.

1. Application
form - fully completed application form (IMM1295B). Please include a day-time
telephone and fax number if possible, in case we need to contact you. A
separate application form is required if your spouse wishes to apply for
an open work permit. Please refer to the Worker Section home page.
2. Processing
Fee -
Basic fee $150 per application
for work permit. See the FEES page for full information on the processing fees
which apply to you.
When posting your application, DO NOT SEND CASH. IT WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED. The fee must be paid by bank draft in Canadian Dollars and can be purchased
at most major banks. This draft should be made payable to:
RECEIVER GENERAL FOR CANADA
Please write your name and address and telephone number on the reverse of
your bank draft.
We can only accept a bankers
draft in Canadian Dollars or postal orders in UK pounds sterling for
applications made in person at our office for
Work Permits.
No cash will be accepted.
This fee is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of your application.
3. Passport
- you must provide a copy of the identity page.
4. Photographs
- two passport photos for you and accompanying family members. Please
write the name on the back.
5.
Letter from L.E.C.T. - letter from the League confirming your
placement details in Canada.
6. Medical
- You are required to have a medical examination before a work permit can be issued
because you will be employed in an occupation in which protection of public health is
essential. When we receive your application, we will issue your medical examination forms
and instructions. You must undergo a medical examination with one of the designated
medical practitioners who will send the results to us for review.
DEPENDANTS
Open work permits can be issued to spouses,
common-law or same sex partners of holders of valid work permits valid for 6 months or
more.
